Scroll, a ZK rollup Layer 2 network, has seen a remarkable surge of 23% in the past seven days, reaching a Total Value Locked (TVL) of $1.03 billion, as reported by L2Beat data. This marks an impressive milestone for Scroll as the 8th Ethereum Layer 2 network to surpass the $1 billion TVL mark.
Scroll’s Growth and Development
Scroll has been gaining significant traction since its launch in October 2023, with the introduction of various features and initiatives to enhance user experience and participation within the ecosystem. One notable feature, Scroll Canvas, enables users to showcase achievements, status, and on-chain credentials. Moreover, initiatives like ‘Session One’ incentivize liquidity provision on decentralized exchanges, while users can earn Scroll Marks by participating in lending protocols such as Aave.
Interestingly, Scroll does not have its native token, yet tokens on the network, predominantly in wrapped format, have witnessed price increases. Wrapped stETH (WSTETH) has seen a significant uptick in trading volume, followed by Bridged USD Coin (Scroll) and Bridged Wrapped Ether (Scroll). Participants are encouraged to bridge assets like ETH and wstETH seamlessly through Scroll’s native bridge and STONE using LayerZero, streamlining the process for users aiming to benefit from the network’s rewards.
Despite the impressive growth of Scroll, other Ethereum Layer 2 networks have also experienced increased activity over the past week. Arbitrum One leads the pack with a TVL of $16.85 billion, followed by Base, OP Mainnet, Blast, and Mantle. Each network has its unique features and strengths, contributing to the overall growth and development of the DeFi ecosystem on Ethereum.
Scroll’s meteoric rise in TVL and the introduction of innovative features have positioned it as a key player in the Ethereum Layer 2 landscape. While the network continues to evolve and expand its offerings, it will be interesting to see how Scroll further solidifies its presence and captures the imagination of DeFi enthusiasts worldwide.
